Specialists from the Kazrestavratsiya State Enterprise are conducting scientific restoration work on a section of the fortress wall of an ancient settlement located near the Khoja Ahmed Yasawi Mausoleum in Turkestan. The decision to restore it was made after monitoring revealed an annual displacement of 10-15 centimeters.
The first section to be restored will be a 32-meter stretch from the Eastern Gate. The total length of the damaged section of the wall is 40 meters.
The fortress wall was rebuilt in the 2000s based on archaeological research of the ancient city. Restorers will strengthen the foundation and restore the masonry, reusing suitable materials removed from the damaged section.
This work will prevent further deformation of the wall and preserve the historical appearance of the northeastern part of the citadel. The scientific restoration is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2026.
