On October 25, a master class and tournament in the Kazakh national intellectual game of togyzkumalak were held at the Kazakhstan Cultural Center in Beijing. The event, "Ulttyk mura – urpaqqa amanat," was timed to coincide with Republic Day.
It was organized by the Kazakhstan Cultural Center in Beijing, the World Togyzkumalak Federation, and the Togyzkumalak Sports Federation of the Republic of Kazakhstan, with the support of the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the People's Republic of China.
The event was attended by diplomats, Chinese and Kazakh students, representatives of the education and arts sectors, and Beijing residents. About 50 people attended the master class, during which they learned the history and rules of the game and tried their hand at it.
32 participants competed in the tournament, including two Kazakh citizens. A 13-year-old Kazakhstani student took first place, while Chinese students from the Central University of Nationalities in Beijing placed second and third. The winners received special prizes from Akim Tursyn, President of the Kazakhstan Togyzkumalak Sports Federation.
As part of the event, the Kazakhstan Cultural Center in Beijing and the Kazakhstan Togyzkumalak Sports Federation signed a memorandum of cooperation. The document provides for the promotion of togyzkumalak in China and the holding of joint cultural, educational, and sporting events.
