An exhibition about Kazakhstan's space journey has opened at the Presidential Center.
The exhibition "Kazakhstan's Star Trek: Celebrating the Anniversaries of Space Heroes" has opened at the Presidential Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The exhibition is dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the space flight of the first Kazakh cosmonaut, Toktar Aubakirov, his 80th birthday, and the 75th birthday of the first cosmonaut of independent Kazakhstan, Talgat Musabayev.
Toktar Aubakirov's flight on October 2, 1991, became one of the most significant events in the country's history. The launch from the Baikonur Cosmodrome aboard the Soyuz TM-13 spacecraft opened a new chapter in national cosmonautics and became an important symbol for Kazakhstan on the threshold of independence.
The event began with a moment of silence in memory of Talgat Musabayev. Participants at the opening celebrated the contribution of Kazakhstani cosmonauts to the development of the national space industry and emphasized the importance of Baikonur in the history of global space exploration.
The exhibition consists of two sections. The first is dedicated to the space flights of Toktar Aubakirov and Talgat Musabayev. Exhibits include items related to their missions, including elements of space equipment, the national flag of the Republic of Kazakhstan, a capsule containing Baikonur soil, astronaut food kits, and other museum materials.
Special attention is given to the achievements of Talgat Musabayev, who completed three space flights and spent more than 341 days in orbit. He conducted seven spacewalks, where he worked for over 41 hours.
The second section of the exhibition explores the development of space activities in independent Kazakhstan, including the flight of Aidyn Aimbetov, the industry's current achievements, and promising areas. Visitors are also presented with models of artificial satellites.
