The opening ceremony of the Turkic World Week, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the First Turkological Congress, took place in the capital of Azerbaijan.

On the occasion of the opening, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev sent a congratulatory address to the event's participants. It was read by Presidential Advisor Malik Otarbayev.

The first day's program continued with a plenary session on the topic "The Turkic World as One Family: The Activities of International Organizations of Turkic Cooperation for Common Goals," an award ceremony for the commemorative plaque "100th Anniversary of the First Turkological Congress (1926–2026)," and thematic panel sessions.

Overall, the event was attended by 80 renowned Turkic scholars from research centers in 20 countries, including the Turkic republics, as well as representatives of international Turkic cooperation organizations. A delegation from Kazakhstan was also among the participants.
