The national film lecture series "From Chronicle to the Future" was held in Pavlodar, organized by the Television and Radio Complex of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The project, timed to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the Television and Radio Complex of the President, introduced viewers to the work of the Documentary Film Center.
The program included the films "Travel Kazakhstan" and "Sert." The former explores the natural, cultural, and tourism potential of the country's regions. "Sert" focuses on the aftermath of the 2024 floods, the mutual assistance of Kazakhstanis, and the restoration of affected communities.
A distinctive feature of "Sert" was its refusal of voiceover commentary. The story is told through the recollections and interviews of people involved in rescue efforts and the restoration of the regions.
On the second day of the film lecture series, viewers were shown the documentaries "A Man from Kulaly Island" and "Kuatty Seriktes." The latter is dedicated to the results of the state visit of Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Japan in December 2025. Following the screenings, a creative meeting was held with Elmira Ishmukhametova, senior editor of the Documentary Film Center, and director Baktiyar Kanafin. The filmmakers discussed project development, the filming process, and the specifics of contemporary documentary filmmaking.
The film lecture series is planned to be held in 20 cities across Kazakhstan. Pavlodar is the twelfth city in the project. Previous screenings have taken place in Astana, Kyzylorda, Turkestan, Shymkent, Taraz, Aktau, Atyrau, Uralsk, Aktobe, and Ust-Kamenogorsk. The project is scheduled to conclude on September 25 in Almaty.
