During a working visit to the Republic of Korea, Erlan Kanalimov, Chairman of the Board of the Creative Industries Development Fund, met with Kim Jae-hyun, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of the Republic of Korea.
Today, the Republic of Korea is one of the world leaders in the development of the creative economy. Consistent government policy has enabled the country to create one of the most effective ecosystems for supporting creative industries. By the end of 2025, K-Content exports reached a record $14.9 billion, and by 2030, the government of the Republic of Korea plans to increase the creative industries market to 400 trillion won, viewing this sector as a key driver of the national economy.
During the meeting, Erlan Kanalimov, Chairman of the Board, emphasized that, thanks to consistent government support, Kazakhstan is confidently increasing the potential of its creative economy and demonstrating sustainable growth in the industry. "The creative economy is becoming one of Kazakhstan's strategic development areas. Today, the number of creative industry entities has reached 47,500, and the number of people employed in the sector has exceeded 160,000. It is especially important for us to study successful international experiences, adapt best global practices, and build long-term partnerships with countries that have achieved significant results in this area. I am confident that cooperation with the Republic of Korea will allow us to take our domestic creative industries to a qualitatively new level," noted Erlan Kanalimov.
For his part, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of the Republic of Korea Kim Jae-hyun emphasized his interest in developing cooperation with Kazakhstan and expressed his willingness to exchange experiences in matters of public policy, specialist training, developing creative infrastructure, and promoting national cultural products internationally.
Following the meeting, the parties confirmed their mutual interest in further expanding cooperation, implementing joint initiatives, and strengthening partnerships in the creative industries. The Creative Industries Development Fund will continue its systematic work to develop international cooperation, attract best global practices, and create new opportunities for the sustainable growth of the domestic creative economy.
