The Republican State Academic Korean Theater of Musical Comedy opened its jubilee 95th theater season with the premiere of the play "Heritage."

The production is based on the play "Memory" by Lavrentiy Son and Stanislav Li. The play addresses the history of the Koreans in Kazakhstan and, through the destinies of the characters, explores the themes of historical memory, the continuity of generations, and the preservation of the language, songs, and traditions.

The choice of this work to open the anniversary season is symbolic. The history of the theater is closely intertwined with the history of the Koreans in Kazakhstan. Founded in 1932 in Vladivostok, the company continued its creative work on Kazakh soil, and since 1968, it has been based in Almaty.

Over its 95-year history, the theater has presented more than 300 plays and concert programs, attended by approximately 10 million spectators.

Today, the Republican State Academic Korean Theater of Musical Comedy continues to preserve and develop national theatrical traditions. It is the only state Korean theater operating outside the Korean Peninsula.
