The Kazakhstan–Russia Friendship Square was opened in Moscow

As part of Kassym-Jomart Tokayev's state visit to Russia, the Friendship Square of Kazakhstan and Russia was opened in Moscow. The new square is located in the Southern Administrative District of Moscow near the Alma-Atinskaya station.

The solemn ceremony was attended by the Minister of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan Aida Balayeva, First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Andrey Yatskin, representatives of the diplomatic corps, famous Russian and Kazakh cultural and art figures.

"I am honored to be here today at the opening of a wonderful square in honor of the friendship of the peoples of Russia and Kazakhstan. The idea of creating this square, which was initiated by the government of the city of Moscow and supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, is being implemented very timely. This confirms the strategic good-neighborly nature of relations between the Russian Federation and friendly Kazakhstan. It is symbolic that we are opening the square on the eve of the historic state visit of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Kemelovich Tokayev. Without a doubt, there are plenty of such public spaces in Moscow, in Russian regions, and in Kazakhstan. But there cannot be few of them, because they confirm the connection between generations of our countries," said Andrey Yatskin.

According to the Kazakh minister, Russia and Kazakhstan are connected by a strong mental connection based on centuries-old traditions of good neighborliness and spiritual values. And the main role in this is played by continuous cultural collaboration, the origins of which go back to ancient times.

In her opinion, for both countries, culture has become a "spiritual bridge" leading to the steps of enlightenment, identity and unity. The current year, as, indeed, all previous ones, once again confirmed the strength of traditions and the richness of cultural and creative ties between our peoples, Aida Balayeva said, speaking at the ceremony.

Recall that in May of this year, the Alley of Eternal Friendship of Kazakhstan and Russia was opened in Astana.
