The VII International Festival of Choreographic Educational Institutions "ÖRLEU. Echo of Turkic Dances" – one of the largest cultural and educational projects in the field of choreographic art in Central Asia – took place in Almaty.
This year, the festival was dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the outstanding poet, People's Writer of Kazakhstan Olzhas Suleimenov. The theme of cultural commonality and historical ties between peoples was reflected in the concept of the project, which united the national choreographic traditions of the Turkic world.
Delegations from Turkey, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Bashkortostan, the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), and Kazakhstan took part in the festival. Leading choreographic educational institutions, representing both the academic ballet school and national dance traditions, arrived in Almaty.
The festival included master classes by leading teachers and specialists, creative showcases, presentations of national choreography schools, as well as a round table with international experts. The main attention was paid to the preservation and development of cultural heritage, the modern understanding of choreographic art, and the strengthening of professional and creative ties between the countries of the Turkic world.
The culmination of the festival was a gala concert on the stage of Almaty Theatre. The program included the best performances by the participants, demonstrating the richness and diversity of the choreographic culture of the Turkic peoples.
The "ÖRLEU" festival was founded in 2008 by the Almaty Choreographic College named after Alexander Seleznev in cooperation with the Eurasian Cultural Foundation. Over the years, it has become an authoritative international platform for professional communication, exchange of experience, and creative interaction. More than 3000 people from different countries of the world have participated in the festival throughout its history.
