From May 10 to 18, 2025, the Astana Ballet Theater will once again delight the hearts of the audience on its annual tour in Almaty. The capital's ensemble will present a rich and multi-genre program, combining classics, folk choreography, modern ballet and symphonic music.
The tour opened with the production of Blind forgiveness, a rock ballet that became a new word in the theater’s repertoire. Choreographer Kirill Radev created an original choreographic canvas in which neoclassical plasticity is combined with modernity and theatrical monologue. The production touches on complex human feelings, internal conflicts and the path to forgiveness.
On May 13, the audience will meet with the Symphony Orchestra and the world-famous violinist Yerzhan Kulibayev. The evening's program includes the famous Seasons of Antonio Vivaldi and an original interpretation of this cycle in the spirit of tango from the Argentine maestro Astor Piazzolla.
On May 15 and 16, the legendary ballet “The Legend of Love” staged by the outstanding choreographer Yuri Grigorovich will be shown on the stage of the Almaty Theater. This is a performance of strong passions and deep thought, in which brilliant components came together that raised the art of ballet to unprecedented heights: the libretto is based on a philosophical play by playwright Nazim Hikmet, colorful and rich music was written by Arif Melikov, and elegant and expressive scenography was created by Simon Virsaladze.
The final point of the tour on May 18 will be the national divertissement “Heritage of the Great Steppe”. This is one of the hallmarks of the Astana Ballet theater, which combines ethnographic images, original Kazakh culture and modern choreographer approaches. The performance is a bright, lively and deeply patriotic statement about the spiritual heritage of the people.
