Baroque, Classicism and Romanticism: Music from Three Eras to Be Performed at Astana Opera

Works by outstanding composers J.S. Bach, W.A. Mozart, J. Brahms will be performed on February 4 in the Chamber Hall named after K. Baiseitova in the concert "Three Geniuses - Three Worlds".

This evening, residents and guests of the capital will get acquainted with masterpieces of classical music from different centuries. The concert program includes such works as Sonata for flute and piano in G minor by the great composer of the Baroque era J.S. Bach, Sonata for flute and piano in D major by the brilliant representative of musical classicism W.A. Mozart, Sonata for clarinet and piano No. 1 in F minor and Sonata for clarinet and piano No. 2 in E-flat major by the outstanding composer of the Romantic period J. Brahms.

"We have known the magnificent Kazakh pianist Gulzhan Murzagaliyevna Aidabulova for about 20 years and have long planned to make music together on stage. The initial idea was to perform two Brahms sonatas together, while our colleagues, the wonderful flutist Balzhan Saparova and the famous pianist Altai Karpykovich Kusainov, will perform the works of Bach and Mozart. And since our pianist colleagues are a married couple, I think that thanks to all these circumstances, a wonderful concert of German classical music will take place," - said Stanislav Umarov, concertmaster of the clarinet group of the Astana Opera Orchestra.

According to Stanislav Umarov, there is a lot of wonderful things in playing in the orchestra, but chamber performance is a special pleasure and a separate life of a musician, "like a favorite dish that you wait for on a holiday." The same thing here, the instrumentalist believes: "knowing that on February 4 you will be playing Brahms, you are already looking forward to it."

"As you know, sonatas for clarinet and piano are among Brahms' later works. In these works, the composer put all his skills and experiences at that moment in his life path and that era as a whole. For us, clarinetists, German music is of particular importance, it is the foundation of foundations, because the clarinet as a musical instrument was formed in Germany. The predecessor of the clarinet was the chalumeau - a wooden wind instrument that was played by performers of that time in Germany and France. For me, the romantic music of German composers, such as Brahms, Weber, Spohr, is probably the most beloved, it is a classic in the broadest and deepest sense of the word. When I play this music, I am absolutely happy," - shared Stanislav Umarov.
