
The ballet troupe of the Kazakh National Opera and Ballet Theatre named after Abay represented Kazakhstan on the stage of the Cultural Center of the NUS University in Singapore. The performances were held with full houses and became a notable event in the cultural life of the city.
The tour was timed to coincide with the 35th anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The program included two parts. In the first, viewers were shown fragments from world ballet masterpieces: Swan Lake by P. I. Tchaikovsky, Don Quixote by L. Minkus and La Sylphide by H. Levenskold. The second part was dedicated to the Carmen Suite – the famous one-act ballet to the music of Georges Bizet and Rodion Shchedrin, which captivated the audience with its dramaturgy, expression and plastic expressiveness.
