On September 24, 2025, a celebratory concert, "Kazakh Traditional Music: The Music of Nurgisa Tlendiyev," was held at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris. It was dedicated to the centenary of the outstanding Kazakh composer, conductor, and kyuishi, Nurgisa Tlendiyev.
The centenary of this outstanding artist is a significant event not only for Kazakhstan but also for the entire world. This date has been included by UNESCO in its list of anniversaries celebrated internationally.
The event was attended by Aida Balayeva, Minister of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and representatives of the diplomatic corps and the creative intelligentsia.
"It is a great honor for us to present Kazakh traditional music here today, in the heart of Paris, at UNESCO Headquarters. We deeply appreciate the support of this prestigious organization, which has included Nurgisa Tlendiyev's centenary in its list of internationally celebrated dates. "The memory of this outstanding composer and conductor is not only our national pride but also part of the shared cultural heritage of all humanity," Aida Balayeva noted in her welcoming address.
The main goal of the event is to promote the diversity of our national cultural heritage, centuries-old traditions, and the culture of our people.
The concert program included the composer's famous works performed by the Otyrar Sazy Orchestra, whose artistic director and conductor is his daughter, Dinzukhra Tlendieva.
Also performing on the UNESCO stage that evening were renowned Kazakh artists: Svetlana Aitbayeva, Alisher Karimov, Farkhat Kubiyev, Gaukhar Zhumagulova, Askar Mukiyat, Abai Koishybayev, Rasul Zharmagambetov, Nurgalym Amanbay, Ayagoz Khairullina, and Zhuldyz Baizhuma.
Nurgisa Tlendiyev's work has become an integral part of Kazakhstan's cultural heritage. He has composed over 500 musical works, written music for over 50 dramatic productions, and 20 films.
Nurgisa Tlendiyev served as chief conductor of the Kazakh State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre named after Abai and the Kurmangazy Academic Orchestra of Folk Instruments, and later became artistic director of the Otyrar Sazy Folklore and Ethnographic Orchestra, which he founded.
