
The 90th World Library and Information Congress of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA WLIC 2026) is taking place in Busan, Republic of Korea, from August 10th to 13th. This year's theme is "Libraries: Driving Transformation."
The Kazakhstan Library Union is an official member of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA). This year, the country is represented at the congress by approximately 40 library professionals—the largest delegation among the CIS countries.
The congress program focuses on key areas of development in modern librarianship. Participants will discuss the development of national libraries and bibliography, international standards and metadata, new approaches to cataloging, information security, and the application of artificial intelligence technologies in library work. The participation of the Kazakhstani delegation in the congress will allow them to study advanced international practices in librarianship and implement modern standards and technologies in the work of Kazakhstani libraries.
