The international photography exhibition "Through the Centuries: Kazakh Culture in Photographs" has opened at the Saparmurat Turkmenbashi the Great Museum of Fine Arts in Ashgabat.
The exhibition was organized by the National Central Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Turkmenistan.
The event was attended by the heads of Ashgabat museums, representatives of the UN and OSCE, the diplomatic corps and media, residents and visitors of the city.
The exhibition aims to introduce the Turkmen public to the history and culture of the Kazakh people in the late 19th and early 20th centuries and to present unique photographic documents from the museum's collections to an international audience.
The exhibition includes 31 ethnographic photographs. The images depict national clothing and jewelry, family and social life, dwellings, household items, crafts, farming activities, and traditional weaponry.
The exhibition will run until October 28, 2026.
