Kazakhstan's national cinema is strengthening its position at the box office and on international platforms.

Kazakhstan continues to develop national cinema: new film projects are being supported, distribution of domestic films is expanding, animation is being developed, and the classics of Kazakh cinema are being preserved.
In the first half of 2026, six films produced with state support were released. These include "Hypnosis," "Ticket from Paradise," "Autumn Breeze," "Kut," "Abil," and the documentary "Gingerbread for Her Father, My Great-Grandfather, Her Grandfather."
The release of a documentary film in theaters was a significant event for the industry. This format expands the possibilities of documentary filmmaking and allows original projects to reach a wider audience.
Work on new projects continues. With the support of the State Center for National Cinema Support, the films "Mugalim" and "Kenzhem Qayda?" have been completed. Another 23 film projects are in production, 21 of which are scheduled for completion by the end of the year. Furthermore, following a competitive selection process, 18 film projects were selected for state support.
Special attention is being given to domestic animation. Ten animation projects were selected following a pitching process by the creative association "Kazakhanimatsia." This area is important for the development of children's and family content, as well as the promotion of Kazakhstani stories in a modern visual format.
Work to preserve the "Golden Collection of Kazakh Cinema" continued. Five films were digitized in the first six months of 2026: "The Return of the Son," "Goodbye, Medeu," "Tam-Tam Sounds," "The Golden Horn," and "The Song Calls." Two more films, "Alpamys Goes to School" and "Anxious Morning," were restored.
Since the beginning of the year, 1,539 applications for distribution certificates have been processed, and 1,344 distribution certificates have been issued. This work contributes to streamlining the film distribution market and ensuring compliance with legal requirements.
