New areas of research into the historical and cultural heritage of the Ulus of Jochi were discussed in Almaty. An expanded meeting was held at the National Academy of Sciences under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, with leading historians, archaeologists, orientalists, geneticists, and paleontologists participating.
The main goal of the meeting was to build more coordinated research around one of the key themes of national history. The legacy of the Ulus of Jochi is viewed not only as an important part of Kazakhstan's past, but also as a significant layer of Eurasian history, linked to the development of statehood, culture, and political and economic processes across a vast territory.
Special attention was paid to the need for a systematic and comprehensive approach to research. In this regard, it is proposed to create a national working group to study the Ulus of Jochi and coordinate scientific work, as well as develop a digital infrastructure for the preservation and analysis of historical heritage.
Priorities also include the use of artificial intelligence, identifying promising research vectors, developing flagship research programs, and expanding international cooperation. These measures should help unite the potential of Kazakh and international scholars, systematize accumulated data, and take the study of the Ulus of Jochi to a new level. A significant outcome of this work could be a deeper scholarly understanding of the role of the Ulus of Jochi in the history of Kazakh statehood and world civilization.
