A legend of world cinema: Nuri Bilge Ceylan, winner of the Cannes Palme d'Or, will head the jury of the Eurasia International Film Festival's International Competition

Nuri Bilge Ceylan is an outstanding Turkish director whose works have been repeatedly recognized at the Cannes Film Festival. His film "Winter Sleep" won the festival's highest award, the Palme d'Or, in 2014. In addition, Ceylan received the Grand Prix of the Jury for the films "Distant" and "Once Upon a Time in Anatolia". In 2008, he was recognized as the best director for the film "Three Monkeys". Nuri Bilge Ceylan has received seven awards at the Cannes Film Festival.

"Recognized master of cinematography, Nuri Bilge Ceylan is one of the most significant directors in Turkey, whose films have conquered the largest film festivals in the world. In 2024, he will become the chairman of the jury of the International Competition of the Eurasia Film Festival," Diana Ashimova noted.

In addition to seven awards in Cannes, his works have been recognized at other prestigious film forums. In 2000, the film "May Clouds" received the FIPRESCI Award of the European Film Academy. Ceylan has won more than 97 awards at various film festivals around the world.

Nuri Bilge Ceylan was born on January 26, 1959 in Istanbul. His name is invariably associated with deep, poetic and intellectual films. Ceylan is known for his unique authorial style, which harmoniously combines subtle visual aesthetics and philosophical reflections on human nature, time, loneliness and memory.

As the chairman of the jury of the International Competition of the Eurasia Film Festival, Nuri Bilge Ceylan will bring his unique perspective to cinema and the culture of East and West.

The founder and organizer of the festival is traditionally the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The direct organization of the film festival is entrusted to the Shaken Aimanov National Film Studio "Kazakhfilm".
