Epic in book graphics: a unique exhibition will open in Almaty

In honor of the anniversary, a unique exhibition entitled "National Epic in Book Graphics of Kazakhstan" will be opened. Visitors will be able to immerse themselves in the world of the Kazakh national epic, embodied in graphic works by outstanding masters of art. The exhibition is designed to emphasize the importance of the literary and artistic heritage of Kazakhstan, inspire a new generation of artists and introduce a wide audience to the cultural values of the Kazakh people.

The exhibition will feature about 90 graphic works, as well as rare editions that store the treasures of the national epic. Visitors will be able to see vivid images of legendary batyrs, sages and mythical creatures, embodied in various artistic techniques - from classical etching to original graphics. A special place in the exhibition is occupied by graphic sheets and illustrations to the most famous works of the Kazakh epic: "Koblandy Batyr" by Abylkhan Kasteev (1932), "Illustrations to the Kazakh folk epic" (1928), "Kobylandy Batyr" (1941) and "Alpamys Batyr" (1943) by Aubakir Ismailov, "Bozzhigit" and "Aiman-Sholpan" (1941) by Konstantin Baranov, "Alpamys Batyr" (1976-1977) and "Kyz-Zhibek" (1973) in the interpretation of the outstanding graphic artist Evgeny Sidorkin. Their works are distinguished by the emotional expressiveness of the characters, bright festivity or restrained monumentality. Illustrations to the epic "Koblandy Batyr" (1978), made in color linocut by Isatay Isabaev, convey the drama and heroism of legendary events. Adil Rakhmanov's works to the epic "Er-Targyn" (1984) admire the dynamics of compositions and masterful mastery of graphic technique. Illustrations to the collection of heroic poems "Aksauyt" (1977) by Alimkhan Smagulov impress with detailed elaboration and vivid imagery. A series of works by Arsen Beiseembinov to the epic "Kozy-Korpesh and Bayan-Sulu" (1984) amazes with the depth of the artistic concept. Illustrations by Agimsala Duzelkhanov to the work "Aiman-Sholpan" (1985) are filled with lyricism and soft plasticity of forms.

The exhibition "National Epic in Book Graphics of Kazakhstan" offers visitors a unique opportunity not only to enjoy the skill of Kazakhstani artists, but also to touch the rich cultural heritage, where heroism, romance and wisdom of national traditions are intertwined. This is an invitation to a world where word and image merge together, creating an unforgettable artistic impression.
