The Astana Ballet Theatre stage hosted performances of the ballet-cantata 'Carmina Burana', once again bringing together the orchestra, choir, soloists, and ballet company within a single grand theatrical production.
The production, whose premiere previously received a wide public response, once again showcased an expressive synthesis of choreography, vocals, and musical accompaniment. The performance is based on a philosophical understanding of human nature, themes of love, temptation, inner struggle, and spiritual renewal. The artistic concept reveals the idea of the eternal movement of the wheel of Fortune, the confrontation between creative and destructive principles, and humanity's striving for harmony.
Balletmasters Mukaram Abubakhrieva (Avakhri) and Timur Zagidullin created an expressive choreographic language, combining elements of neoclassicism, contemporary dance, and plastic improvisation. The musical part was performed by the orchestra, choir, and soloists of the theatre under the direction of chief conductor Arman Urazgaliyev. The choral parts were performed under the guidance of Gulmira Kuttybadamova.
