For the thirteenth time, the Bibigul Tulegenova XIII International Vocal Competition will be held during Almaty City Day.
The goal of this competition is the moral and aesthetic education of the younger generation. The International Vocal Competition aims to draw the attention of our youth to the pure source of classical and folk music. The competition will help identify talented young performers, raise the prestige of Kazakh classical art, and contribute to the spiritual development of our youth.
Performances of the best examples of Kazakh music will promote the interpenetration of cultures, reveal the true beauty of the Kazakh people's soul, and popularize the works of Kazakh composers.
The qualifying round of the competition will be held in the Grand Concert Hall of the Kurmangazy Kazakh National Conservatory. The opening, closing, and final rounds will be held in the Grand Concert Hall of the Zhambyl Kazakh State Philharmonic. Young opera singers from all corners of our vast Kazakhstan, as well as neighboring and distant countries, will flock to Almaty.
The Bibigul Tulegenova International Vocal Competition always turns into a grand, colorful, and vibrant celebration for all residents and visitors of Almaty.
The competition is open to singers born no earlier than October 1, 1990, and no later than October 1, 2006.
The competition consists of a qualifying round and a final round. All auditions are public. The performance order is determined by lottery and remains unchanged until the end of the competition. No more than 14 participants will advance to the final round.
A respected and professional jury will evaluate the contestants' captivating performances. The jury chairperson for the 13th International Vocal Competition is Bibigul Tulegenova, People's Artist of the USSR and Kazakhstan, Hero of Socialist Labor, laureate of the USSR and Kazakhstan State Prizes, and academician. The jury included leading figures in world opera:
1. Gaukhar Koshkarbekovna Tasbergenova – Rector of the Kurmangazy Kazakh National Conservatory, pianist, PhD in Art Management, and winner of international competitions. Republic of Kazakhstan, Almaty.
2. Anatoly Gusev – Rossinievsky tenor, professor of solo singing, Maestro of vocal technique and style at the Milan College, and jury member of prestigious vocal competitions: M. Caballe, E. Obrazovaya, and E. Marton. Italy, Milan.
3. Damir Basyrov – Soloist of the Prague Opera, People's Artist of the Komi Republic. Czech Republic, Prague.
4. Ldmila Yakovlevna Kolos – Honored Artist of the Republic of Belarus, Professor of the Belarusian State Academy of Music. Republic of Belarus, Minsk.
5. Li Biao – teacher of vocals and language training/diction at the School of Music of the Chinese University of Hong Kong in Shenzhen, Master of Arts at the Milan Conservatory, Italy, and Master of Arts at the College of Music at Capital Normal University of China. Hong Kong, China.
6. Virginio Fedeli – Grammy Award winner, producer, international consulting manager, artistic director of the Teatro della Fortuna Foundation in Faro from 2017 to the present, General Director of International Relations of the Foundation, General Director of the Atelier Musicale International Agency. The performances of young opera singers are evaluated by an international jury, and each participant receives a creative analysis of their performance, as well as recommendations from professionals. This celebration of the arts will help discover new singers who will conquer the world's outstanding stages. The main organizer of the competition is the Akimat of Almaty, the Miras National Cultural Foundation, and the Health of the People Charitable Foundation.
