The opening of a personal exhibition of the famous Kazakh artist Ruslan Yusupov (1950-2021) "Living Land" dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the master's birth took place at the Abylkhan Kasteyev State Museum of Arts of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The "Living Land" exhibition is a retrospective of Ruslan Yusupov's work. The exposition includes 75 paintings created over more than fifty years of active artistic activity. This is the third personal exhibition of the Kazakh master at the A. Kasteyev State Museum of Arts. Yusupov's work harmoniously integrated classical traditions and innovative achievements of Western and Eastern art. His works are characterized by high pictorial culture, a variety of thematic content, symbolic conventionality of figurative language, and a desire for a philosophical comprehension of the life manifestations surrounding him.
The beginning of Ruslan Yusupov's creative activity fell on the mid-1970s. This time was called in history the "period of stagnation", but in reality it became a significant stage in the formation of national schools of Soviet fine art.
In the 1990s, Ruslan Yusupov's characteristic artistic style was formed. This was facilitated by several creative trips of the master to the ancient cities of Xinjiang. As a result of these trips, he created cycles of paintings executed in a new style that meets the task of deep philosophical understanding of the continuity of the past and the present, the task of translating the historical memory of his people by visual means.
Ruslan Yusupov's canvases continue to give viewers moments of miraculous insight today. The surrounding world appears for a moment in an extraordinary sublime light, revealing echoes of the true truth of life and its meaning. The artist’s works are in museums in Kazakhstan, in private collections in France, Germany, USA, Japan, South Korea and Turkey.
