Honored Worker of Kazakhstan Bakyt Shagyrbayev performed 110 songs without sheet music, lyric cues, or backing tracks, accompanying himself on the accordion. The musical marathon in Taraz lasted 6 hours and 40 minutes.
According to the application, the performer had to perform the program without interruption, without the use of a teleprompter, printed lyrics, or a choir. On average, each song lasted about three to four minutes.
Bakyt Shagyrbayev's performance surpassed the achievement of Kairat Kabyshayev, who performed 102 traditional Kazakh songs in 5 hours and 37 minutes in Semey in June 2026. The performance also took place without sheet music, lyric cues, or backing tracks.
Bakyt Shagyrbayev was born in the village of Tamdy in the Zhambyl region. After graduating from the Zhezkazgan Cultural and Educational College, he worked as a soloist at the Karatau Regional House of Culture, directed the "Konyrkaz" ensemble at the Eurasian National University, and performed at the Suyunbay Almaty Regional Philharmonic. He is currently an artist at the Kenen Azerbayev Zhambyl Regional Philharmonic.
The performance materials have been submitted to the Global Best Records committee for review. Official record status will be granted after reviewing video recordings, documents, and eyewitness accounts.
