
The documentary film "The Man from Kulaly Island" produced by the Television and Radio Broadcasting Complex of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan received a special diploma at the Eurasia.DOC International Documentary Film Festival of the CIS Countries in Minsk.
The film was awarded a special diploma "For its poetic image of the unity of man and nature." The film was included in the main competition program of the anniversary festival and represented Kazakhstan on the international documentary film scene.
The film tells the story of a meteorologist who lives far from civilization on Kulaly Island in the Caspian Sea. Through his daily life, the filmmakers reveal the hero's inner world, his conscious choices, resilience, life's challenges, and his special connection with nature.
The film was produced by the film crew of the Television and Radio Broadcasting Company of the President. Almas Satkenov directed the film, Elmira Ishmukhametova wrote the screenplay, and Adilbek Kulaman produced it. Sayat Tastanov and Kanat Yensebayev served as cinematographers, and Ruslan Aitmambetov edited it.
The film's international recognition underscores the growing interest in Kazakhstani documentary filmmaking. Stories based on the lives of ordinary people, nature, and human resilience are becoming an important part of Kazakhstan's cultural representation abroad.
