Kazakhstan’s “Coppélia” Captivated the Stage of the Royal Opera House Muscat

The Royal Opera House Muscat has become one of the key cultural venues where the art of Kazakhstan shone brightly. At the special invitation of the Omani side, the Astana Opera troupe presented Roland Petit’s ballet Coppélia.

Over the course of two days, the performance was attended by more than two thousand spectators. Under the baton of maestro Ruslan Baimurzyn, the orchestra created an expressive musical atmosphere that highlighted the production’s dramaturgy.

Audiences from Oman and international guests highly praised the work of the Kazakhstani troupe. Many noted the precision of the performance, the expressiveness of the artists, and the ensemble’s cohesiveness. According to one attendee from Muscat, the production stood out for its “rare fluidity and exceptional professionalism,” while the leading soloists’ performances “created a sense of absolute harmony on stage.”

A significant contribution to the tour’s preparation and artistic outcome was made by the ballet company’s artistic director, Altynai Asylmuratova. Thanks to the consistent work of the teachers and répétiteurs, Astana Opera continues to shape its own performance identity and a coherent repertoire approach.
