The Abai Kazakh National Opera and Ballet Theatre opened its 93rd season with the premiere of the national ballet "Akbala," based on Abdiжамиl Nurpeisov's trilogy "Blood and Sweat."
A famous work by the classic of Kazakh literature, Abdiжамиl Nurpeisov, served as the basis for a ballet for the first time, revealing new facets on the theater stage. The performance featured the theater's ballet troupe, symphony orchestra, opera soloists, and choir. The deep, mellow sound of the kylkobyz further enriches the musical content of the production.
The main roles were performed by Milana Rakhimbekova as Akbala, Arkhat Ashirbek as Elaman, and Rustem Imangaliev as Tanirbergen. The ballet was staged by an international creative team consisting of specialists from Kazakhstan, Germany, Italy, and Russia.
The production was dedicated to the memory of prominent art masters Lyudmila Rudakova and Eduard Malbekov, who devoted their conscious lives to the Abai Theatre and made a significant contribution to the development of national ballet art.
In honor of the new season's opening, an updated interactive museum telling the story of the theater's history and prominent figures of national art was also unveiled. The exhibition features materials related to Kulyash Baiseitova, Kurmanbek Dzhandarbekov, Shara Zhienkulova, Akhmet Zhubanov, Dauren Abirov, and other cultural figures.
The museum's collection was also enriched with a rare work by Vladimir Колоденко, one of the founders of the Kazakhstani school of theater artists. A painting depicting a ballerina was presented as a gift to the theater.
