The State Center for National Cinema Support has completed accepting scripts and screenplay plans for the first stage of the competitive selection of film projects vying for state financial support. Applications were accepted from March 1 to 6.
In 2026, 323 applications were received for the competition. After reviewing the submitted materials, 277 were forwarded to the Expert Council for consideration.
The largest number of applications—239—were received in the feature film section. Of these, 205 projects were submitted for expert review.
The animation section received 37 applications, 28 of which were forwarded to the Expert Council. Forty-seven applications were received in the documentary and newsreel category, 44 of which were forwarded for review.
A total of 46 applications were rejected. Of these, 36 were duplicate submissions, four were missing a script, four were submitted in excess of the established limit, and two were sent to the wrong category. At the next stage, members of the Expert Council will review the submitted scenarios and scenario plans in the relevant sections. Based on this review, projects will be selected for the second stage of the competitive selection.
