The competition aims to develop the national piano school and support talented young musicians, as well as to popularize classical and academic music, music by Kazakhstani composers, and piano performance. The organizers set the tasks of improving the performing skills of the participants, promoting their professional development and preparing them for international projects. In addition, they strive to draw attention to classical music and create conditions for the exchange of experience between teachers and students.

Young pianists aged 7 to 18, studying in the specialty "Piano" in educational institutions of culture and art of Kazakhstan, can participate in the competition. At the same time, the winners of the Grand Prix and first places of previous competitions cannot participate in the current competition in their age category. The competition is held in four age groups: 7-9 years, 10-12 years, 13-15 years and 16-18 years.

On the first day of the competition, a draw and audition of participants in category "C" took place, as well as a master class by Honored Artist of the Republic of Kazakhstan A. Tebenigin. Online broadcast of the competition is available on the YouTube channel of KazNUI.
