The State Academic Dance Theater of the Republic of Kazakhstan meets its 58th theatrical season with a tour. The ballet troupe will present two legendary masterpieces of world choreography: Swan Lake by P.I. Tchaikovsky and Carmen Suite by J. Bizet – R. Shchedrin. On September 26, the ballet troupe will perform on the stage of the Turkestan Sarayı Concert Hall in Shymkent, and on September 28, at the Balasagun Palace of Culture in Taraz.
The immortal classic of world ballet, Swan Lake, has been performed on world stages for several centuries and still remains a masterpiece of classical art, gathering full houses. The plot of the ballet is based on folklore motifs, which are based on the old German legend of the beautiful Princess Odette, turned into a swan by the curse of the evil sorcerer Rothbart. Kazakh choreographer Bulat Ayukhanov first staged this ballet in 1967 for his graduating class at the Almaty Choreographic School, performing one of the leading roles himself. The production became part of the repertoire of the “Young Ballet of Almaty” and in 2000 became the pearl of the poster of the State Academic Dance Theater. A special feature of Ayukhanov's version is its tragic ending – evil triumphs over good, leaving the audience pondering the fate of the heroes and the nature of human actions.
The second act will feature a performance of the one-act ballet Carmen Suite – a choreographic version of Georges Bizet's famous opera Carmen. The plot centers on the tragic fate of the gypsy Carmen and the soldier Jose who fell in love with her, whom Carmen leaves for the young Toreador. Famous music, rich choreography, dance drawings, vivid characters, a dynamic plot, classic variations. At one time, Bulat Ayukhanov was personally acquainted with Maya Plisetskaya, communicated with her, and as a sign of love for classical music and admiration for the legend of world ballet, he created his own version of the plot by P. Merimee.
