Today, creative industries are one of the key drivers of economic growth, uniting the country's culture, innovation, technology, and intellectual capital. The Republic of Korea is rightfully considered a global leader in this area, and MBC (Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation) is one of Asia's leading public media companies.
Founded in 1961, MBC is one of the largest media holding companies in the Republic of Korea, combining television broadcasting, digital platforms, and original content production. The company boasts a state-of-the-art production infrastructure, including one of the country's largest television complexes, DreamCenter, and its projects are distributed in over 50 countries, strengthening the international position of the K-Content industry.
Over the decades, MBC has produced internationally acclaimed television projects and dramas that have successfully exported to overseas markets. One of the most striking examples is the historical drama "Dae Jang Geum" ("Jewel in the Palace"), broadcast in over 90 countries and becoming a symbol of the global success of Korean cultural content.
The meeting took place during a period of active implementation of MBC's international strategy to develop a global intellectual property (IP) ecosystem and expand the company's presence in global markets. The media holding places particular emphasis on the development of digital platforms, the creation of new content formats, the implementation of artificial intelligence technologies in production processes, and the establishment of a modern creative infrastructure. Erlan Kanalimov, Chairman of the Board of the Creative Industries Development Fund, noted that international cooperation is a key area for the development of the domestic creative economy.
"Today, creative industries are becoming a key factor in the global competitiveness of countries. It is important for Kazakhstan not only to study best international practices but also to build long-term partnerships with leading international companies. MBC's experience in creating sought-after global content, developing intellectual property, and digital transformation is particularly valuable. I am confident that our cooperation will open new opportunities for joint projects, professional exchange, and the promotion of Kazakhstan's creative potential internationally," said Erlan Kanalimov.
For his part, MBC President Ahn Hyun-joon noted the company's interest in expanding cooperation with Kazakhstan and expressed readiness to develop partnerships in media content production, exchange professional expertise, and implement joint projects aimed at strengthening international ties in the creative industries. Following the meeting, the parties confirmed their mutual interest in further developing cooperation and continuing professional dialogue on media content production, the implementation of modern technologies, human resource development, and the implementation of joint initiatives in the creative industries.
