The anniversary evening "Atameken-ay" was dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Shomishbay Sariev

The State Academic Concert Organization "Kazakhconcert" named after Roza Baglanova hosted the anniversary evening "Atameken-ai", dedicated to the 80th birthday of the outstanding poet, translator, Honored Worker of Kazakhstan Shomishbay Sariyev.

On behalf of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, a basket of flowers was sent to the participants of the evening. During the event, congratulatory letters from the Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Maulen Ashimbayev and the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Minister of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan Aida Balayeva were read out. The poet's wife, Zhumagul Sariyeva, also attended the evening.

The concert program became a retrospective of the author's best works, which took a special place in domestic musical and poetic culture. Well-known compositions such as "Ainaldym senen, atameken-ai", "Qazaq Eli", "Dombyra Turaly Ballada", "Omir-ozen", "Sagindym, Sagym Zhyldar", "Ayaulym", "Sen Munyndy Ber Magan", "Erkeledin Sen", "Okinbe Sen", and others were performed on stage.

The concert was attended by prominent figures of culture and art, including honored workers of Kazakhstan, laureates of state and international competitions, as well as the ensemble "Gulder", the Kazakh State Symphony Orchestra, the State Theater "ASTANA MUSICAL". The chief conductor of the evening was Dastan Ibragimov.

Shomishbay Sariyev made a significant contribution to the development of Kazakh literature and song art, as well as to the translation school. His works have been translated into several foreign languages, and the poet himself became the only representative from Kazakhstan and Central Asia to participate in the UNESCO World Symposium of Poets in Bucharest in 2000. In addition, he was the first among Kazakh writers to release author's video recordings "Gashyktar Zhyry" and "Bozzhorga".
