Astana Ballet: 2025 Results in Facts and Achievements

2025 was a year filled with concrete results for the Astana Ballet Theatre. During the season, 83 performances were presented, including five premieres, three of which were national choreographic miniatures, to an audience of approximately 50,000 spectators. The theatre toured Pavlodar, Almaty, and Kostanay, steadily expanding its regional presence.

The highlight of the year was the premiere of Carl Orff's ballet-cantata "Carmina Burana" – a large-scale production featuring a ballet company, soloists, choir, and symphony orchestra. The production became the artistic culmination of the 13th theatre season and, at the end of the year, was recognized as "Ballet of the Year" by the professional community.

The international focus was reinforced by a successful performance at the Cheonan World Dance Festival 2025 in South Korea, where the theatre won a silver medal. Choreographic miniatures from the "Heritage of the Great Steppe" program once again confirmed the competitiveness of national choreography on the world stage and cemented the theater's status as a prominent cultural representative of Kazakhstan.

The 2025 repertoire also included a new two-act ballet, "Two Carpets," expanding the theater's genre and stylistic scope. New choreographic miniatures were prepared for national holidays and presented as part of the "Määägö el" concert program.

The year was also marked by personal achievements. The theater's dancers were awarded the state award "Eren eääbäää üshön," and the principal choreographer and leading soloist were nominated for the prestigious international Benois de la Danse 2025 award.
