
A musical evening, "Voice of the Century," dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of People's Artist of Kazakhstan and outstanding opera singer Yermek Serkebayev, was held in Astana.
A congratulatory letter from the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, was read to the participants of the anniversary concert by Aida Balayeva, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
In his address, the Head of State noted that Yermek Serkebayev was a unique talent who made an invaluable contribution to the development of national art. The President emphasized that the artist masterfully performed the best roles in Kazakh and world operas, elevated works to the heights of classical music, and celebrated national culture on renowned international stages.
"The 100th anniversary of Yermek Serkebayev is included in the list of anniversaries celebrated by UNESCO. Yermek Bekmukhamedovich was an outstanding singer and a wise mentor. "He worked fruitfully for many years at the Kurmangazy Kazakh National Conservatory, mentoring many students. In doing so, he developed his own unique vocal school. His sublime artistry and noble character serve as a role model for the younger generation. Therefore, preserving the memory of such a son of the people as Yermek Serkebayev and promoting his legacy is our shared task," the President's congratulatory message reads.
The participation of the outstanding opera singer's family added a special atmosphere to the evening. Murat Serkebayev, Baigali Serkebayev, and Zhamilya Serkebayeva performed on stage. Their participation symbolized the continuity of generations and paid tribute to the creative legacy of the legendary master, whose name is forever inscribed in the history of Russian musical art.
A member of the artistic dynasty, Murat Serkebayev, expressed gratitude to the Head of State for his attention to culture and noted the high level of organization of the anniversary evening.
"This evening was a great celebration for us all." "Ermek Bekmukhamedovich is a great master, whose name unites generations. The concert was staged at a high level, and the audience received it with great warmth. I would like to express my special gratitude to the President for his attention to culture. It is crucial that our country preserves the memory of outstanding artists and supports such projects," noted Murat Serkebayev.
In turn, musician and producer Baigali Serkebayev emphasized that the evening was a significant event for the family, the artists, and all fans of Ermek Serkebayev's work.
"I am very proud of my father, who did so much for Kazakhstan and brought fame far beyond its borders. I am extremely grateful to the President for such attention to my father's memory and work. I thank everyone who participated in this concert and who organized it. Today was a wonderful, warm, and amazing musical evening. It was clear that both the musicians and the audience thoroughly enjoyed it," said Baigali Serkebayev. The evening featured performances of works from Yermek Serkebayev's repertoire, which have become part of the golden age of Kazakhstan's musical culture, as well as modern interpretations of beloved songs.
Finally, the participants were presented with flowers on behalf of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
