Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan Aida Balayeva visited the Zhastar Theater in Shymkent, where the play "Enlik-Kebek" based on Mukhtar Auezov's tragedy of the same name was presented.
The production is a remarkable work of Kazakh drama, a golden treasure, and profoundly reflects the national spirit and historical destiny of the people. The theater company presented the play with a new director's approach, reimagining the classic work through a modern stage language.
During her visit, Aida Balayeva also learned about the theater's activities and met with the company.
"The President highly values culture. He always speaks warmly of you, of the people who lift and strengthen the spirit of the nation," she noted.
This year, Zhastar celebrates its first anniversary. The theater's repertoire includes 10 productions. The young theater already enjoys international recognition: in 2025, it won the Grand Prix at the International Cultural Festival of Desert Theatre in Algiers.
Furthermore, in April 2026, a memorandum of cooperation was signed with the French theater GRRRANIT – Scène nationale de Belfort.
The theater also has established collaborations with colleagues from Italy, Korea, and Canada, which include joint projects and the possibility of organizing an international festival.
Today, the company employs 145 people, including 50 artists and 18 creative staff.
