The performer and ideological inspirer of the concert is the People's Artist of Kazakhstan, laureate of the State Prize of the Republic of Kazakhstan Shakimardan Abilov. Together with him, the laureates of international competitions Nursultan Anuarbek and Sara Sadygulova will take part in this musical evening. On this evening, in the Chamber Hall named after K. Baiseitova, a cycle of romances by the composer Yerkegali Rakhmadiyev to the poems of Abai Kunanbayev will be performed for the first time. Shakimardan Abilov noted that these seven romances are the first vocal cycle in the history of Kazakh classical romance.

"In 1981, preparing my concert at the conservatory, I discovered a romance by Yerkegali Rakhmadiyev to the famous poem by Abai "Қалың елім, қазағым, қайран жұртым", written by him in his student years. This romance remained unpublished and unperformed. Its melody is wide, the sound is high, and the vocal part requires powerful breathing in the upper octaves. In 1986, I first performed it at the plenum of the Union of Composers. Hearing my performance, Yerkegali Rakhmadiyev expressed his gratitude to me for giving a new life to his work. Inspired by this, he wrote seven more romances to the poems of Abai specifically for my voice. This is how the first vocal cycle in the history of Kazakh professional music was created from 7 romances to the poems of the great poet," – said Shakimardan Abilov.

The famous cycle of romances by Yerkegali Rakhmadiyev includes poems by Abai "Қалың елім, қазағым, қайранжұртым", "Жаздыгүн шілде болғанда", "Көңілім қайтты достан да, дұшпаннан да...", "Сіз – қырғауыл жез қанат", "Қара қатын", "Көңіл құсы құйқылжыр шартарапқа...".

Currently, opera singer Shakimardan Abilov and musical consultant of the Astana Opera Theater Raushan Beskembirova are preparing these seven romances for presentation to the public in the format of two monocycles. In addition, the program will include four romances by Nagim Mendygaliev to the poems of Abai: "Мен сәлем жазамын", "Ғашықтың тілі – тілсіз тіл", "Кейде есер көңіл құрғырың", "Ғашықтық, құмарлықпен – ол екі жол", arias from the opera "Abai" by Akhmet Zhubanov and Latif Khamidi, as well as songs to the poems of the poet, written by Sydyk Mukhamedzhanov, Mansur Sagatov and Evgeny Brusilovsky.
