The animated project "KÖLEÑKE" (18+), created by the creative group "Kazakhanimatsiya," was awarded a special jury prize at the international PFCAT (Portland Festival of Cinema, Animation & Technology) festival in the United States.
The film received the award in the horror animation category "For an Unusual Vision and Creative Excellence." Festival experts praised the project's distinctive style and original visual aesthetic.
"KÖLEÑKE" was created by a team of local specialists. Screenwriter Yernar Tileubayev, director Maksat Ayapov, production designer Dair Zhienkulov, and executive producer Nurzhigit Sultanberdi.
Two other works by Kazakhanimatsiya—the folk horror "Su perisi" and the drama "Shańyraq"—were also featured in the festival's main program. For both films, the Portland screening marked their first international audience.
