This year, the Astana Ballet Theatre is ready to surprise the public once again — the theatre has opened the 13th season, in which historical and dramatic productions that reveal the rich cultural heritage and fateful pages of history will occupy a special place.
The start of the new theatre season of the Astana Ballet Theatre promises the audience a meeting with large-scale historical and dramatic performances. The focus is on deep plots, bright plasticity and emotional power of productions, where the art of dance becomes the language of memory and culture.
The Astana Ballet Theatre opened the 13th theatre season with one of its most significant and profound works — the ballet Sultan Beybars. The production, which intertwines historical drama, philosophical reflections on power and longing for the homeland, has become not only the opening of the new season, but also a symbol of the theatre’s desire to create large-scale artistic canvases. The artistic director of the theater Nurlan Kanetov emphasized that the new season will offer an amazing story, amazing acting and sophisticated choreography to the audience.
"We are ready for the new season, and the theater is in full swing. Intensive rehearsals and introductions of young artists to the ballet "Sultan Beibars" are underway. The new season opens with large-scale and inspiring projects, and we are happy to share them with the audience." The story of the great commander and statesman who managed to go from slave to sultan, performed by the theater artists, appeared as a powerful dramatic picture, where dance becomes the language of memory and culture. The production brought together talented authors: composers Khamit Shangaliev and Alibek Alpiyev, poet Bakhyt Kairbekov, set designer Leonid Basin, costume designer Asya Solovieva and lighting designer Arsenia Safiullina. However, the theater's program is not limited to the opening of the season. In September, Astana Ballet will go on tour in Kazakhstan and abroad. From September 12 to 14, Kostanay will host a unique combination of world classics and national choreography: the one-act ballets Carmen Suite and Arcana of Fate, as well as the divertissement Heritage of the Great Steppe.
Then the troupe will go to Korea, where it will present a national program staged by Aigul Tati as part of the prestigious Cheonan World Dance Festival 2025.
The autumn repertoire will continue with significant events on the home stage:
September 20 - benefit performance of leading soloist Farkhad Buriyev, who has dedicated 19 years to the ballet stage;
September 27 - concert of the Theater Symphony Orchestra "Names. Double Concerto".
It should be noted that a special highlight of the autumn repertoire will be the premiere of new miniatures by Aigul Tati in national choreography, which have absorbed the wealth of traditions and modern stage interpretation.
"We are confident that art, in which the soul of the team is invested, will always be in demand. It is important for us to feel the warmth and support of the audience, be it in the capital or in the most remote corners of the country," said Nurlan Kanetov.
