Nauryz is a holiday that brings people together, strengthening feelings of friendship and mutual understanding. Unity Day, in turn, emphasizes the special importance of peace, harmony, and cohesion in society.
To mark this occasion, we spoke with Svetlana Krueger, a German-born woman who was educated in Kazakh and actively supports and develops the state language. She shared her views on the importance of mutual respect and harmony between people.
– What does Unity and Solidarity Day mean to you?
– For me, it's a special holiday that symbolizes friendship and harmony between people. It once again reminds us of the importance of unity and mutual respect. When people treat each other with understanding and are willing to support each other, peace and harmony are strengthened in society. I believe that unity is not only living together, but also the ability to respect each other and help each other when needed. These are the values that bring people together and make society more cohesive.
What values underpin the maintenance of peace and unity in society?
First and foremost, respect. Respect for the opinions and rights of every individual fosters an atmosphere of mutual understanding. Second, tolerance—the ability to accept people regardless of their nationality, language, or religion. Third, justice. Only through adherence to the law and the principles of justice can trust be fostered. Mutual assistance and support also play a significant role: a willingness to help in times of need brings people together and strengthens social unity.
Furthermore, mutual understanding and open dialogue are essential conditions for harmony. Disagreements should be resolved peacefully—through discussion and compromise. If values such as respect, tolerance, justice, and mutual support are ingrained in society, this contributes to the preservation of unity and harmony.
What is the main secret to peace and stability in our multinational country, where different cultures and traditions intertwine?
In my opinion, the foundation of peaceful life in Kazakhstan is unity and mutual respect. Our country has created conditions for the equal and harmonious coexistence of representatives of various ethnic groups. It is this atmosphere of respect and mutual understanding that strengthens social cohesion and serves as a solid foundation for stability and peace.
– What do you think is necessary to foster a sense of unity and tolerance among young people?
– First and foremost, high-quality upbringing and education are essential. Equally important is engaging young people in joint initiatives and events that foster these values. From an early age, it is essential to instill respect for others, kindness, and the ability to understand one another. Studying the cultures and traditions of different peoples in school helps foster a more open and respectful attitude toward representatives of other ethnic groups.
The example of the older generation and public figures, who should demonstrate the values of respect and harmony through their behavior, also plays a significant role. Regularly holding joint events, sports competitions, and cultural festivals helps bring young people together and foster mutual understanding. Thus, the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan systematically implements projects aimed at strengthening friendship and harmony among young people.
– What would you like to wish the people of Kazakhstan on Unity and Solidarity Day?
– I sincerely congratulate all Kazakhstanis on Unity and Solidarity Day! May peace, harmony, and mutual respect always be preserved in our country. May our unity grow stronger every day, and may our friendship remain strong and enduring. I wish every home well-being, happiness, and prosperity.
