 Stories by Beimbet Mailin – a literary chronicle of Kazakh life at the beginning of the 20th century. The writer's work brought national literature to a new level. His prose works reflect the realities of the time, the sorrows and needs of the people.

«Ginger Striped Coat»

The work describes the period of the beginning of the establishment of Soviet power in Kazakhstan and the process of confiscation of property.  In the chests of the bai there was a red striped fur coat presented by the tsar. Now every poor person can try it on, which the villagers do. The bai's pride becomes a reason for ridicule. The story was written at the height of the struggle, when the measures of the Soviet government are bringing the country closer to famine, in which both those who did not wear a red striped fur coat and those who measured it will die.

«Shuga Monument»

The story tells about the only daughter of the rich man Yesimbek - the beautiful Shuga, who in childhood was betrothed to the son of her father's friend. At the age of sixteen, freedom-loving Shuga fell in love with an honest and modest teacher Abdrakhman from a poor family. But her lover, on denunciation, in the organization of which Yesimbek also took part, was sent to prison. The girl with a pure soul could not cope with the grief, soon fell ill and died. On the site of her burial there is a small hill, popularly called the «Shuga Monument».

«Kul’pash»

A story about the helplessness of a person in the face of hunger, about the tragic 30s of the last century. A young woman, stepping over her pride, decides to leave her husband in order to marry a rich man and feed her only child. Only life makes its own adjustments to her plans.

«Communist Raushan»

Modest and shy Raushan never left beyond the tract of her native village. The same is her husband Baken - calm, with a mild character. For the first time getting  to the city as a delegate to the congress, Raushan feels lost, everything is new to her. New feelings awaken in her soul, which in the future will determine her fate. Believing in herself, overcoming fears and doubts, she becomes the chairman of the village Council.
