This year our country celebrates the 33rd anniversary of state symbols, it was on June 4, 1992 that the coat of arms, flag and anthem of independent Kazakhstan were first approved. On the birthday of state symbols, we want to tell you who stood at the origins, what ideas formed the basis, and how do symbols continue to influence the self-identification of the people?
Cultural manifesto of the country
The working group that was engaged in the development of new state symbols included representatives of culture and art, scientific intelligentsia and people's deputies. The selection of the best projects and the competition of artists was not easy: the commission considered more than 600 works from 1,200 talented artists of the country. After long discussions, they chose the blue-light blue color, which to this day personifies the symbol of unity, harmony, peace and prosperity. Shaken Niyazbekov became the winner and the author of the national flag of the Republic of Kazakhstan, in the design of the project of the flag of our country he reflected a deep meaning: the sky-blue color symbolizes peace and open sky, the golden sun - life, the soaring eagle (golden eagle) - freedom and strength, and the national ornament reflects the wealth and great history of the Kazakh culture. When creating and approving the national emblem of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the idea of a special sign of distinction was taken as a basis, as in ancient times, when various tribes symbolized themselves with a distinctive sign "totem", which later received the name "tamga". They were applied to coats of arms, seals and household items, thereby indicating belonging to a certain clan, family or person. Tamgas were also used to brand cattle - a tradition that, by the way, is still alive in Kazakh villages. As a symbol with totemic meaning, shanyrak was especially revered by ancient ancestors. It was the image of the shanyrak that became the main symbol in the sketches of the coat of arms by Zhandarbek Malibekov and Shot-Aman Valikhanov.
This is not just an architectural element, but a deep symbol of a common home for all the peoples living in the country.
By drawing an analogy, one can understand that a subtle parallel has been drawn: just as the strength of the shanyrak depends on the strength of the uyks, so the well-being of all of Kazakhstan depends on peace and harmony between its ethnic groups.
The idea is that everyone's happiness is the basis of the happiness of the entire nation.
In the design of the coat of arms itself, in addition to the shanyrak, you can notice winged tulpars - they personify freedom, courage and the desire for progress. The five-pointed star means openness to the world and the future, and the inscription "Kazakhstan" itself symbolizes the integrity and independence of the country.
Another important state symbol of sovereign Kazakhstan is the musical and poetic work - the anthem of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The modern anthem is based on the song "Menin Kazakhstanym", written in 1956 by the poet Zhumeken Nazhimedenov and the composer Shamshy Kaldayakov.
- A special pride for the country is felt at special ceremonial events, when the anthem of Kazakhstan is played, and your right palm holds your heart, - says with enthusiasm a resident of the capital Dariya Asipova.
Let us recall that in 2006 a new national anthem was adopted, the basis of which was the popular song "Menin Kazakhstanym", the happy fate of which began in the second half of the fifties of the last century.
If you listen to the words of the anthem, you can notice how pride sounds for the free people of the steppes, the generosity of the land of ancestors and the long-awaited return of freedom and sovereignty. Today, for all Kazakhstanis, the national flag, coat of arms and anthem are not just symbols of the country, but truly real elements of national pride.
This is the history and reflection of a new era, the embodiment of the wisdom of the people and a great legacy to the younger generation about what goals and aspirations stood at the origins in order to preserve that very unique code of the nation.
And it is on this day that we, like no other, should feel a special sense of patriotism and pride for a sovereign and developing state.
